Why crackers belong to Birthdays
The audience is small children and grandparents, close together. That rules out most of the list and makes the choice easy.
What to buy
Silent and low-noise items only: sparklers, colour smoke for the photographs, butterflies and small chakkars. Nothing that bangs and nothing that flies.
Chosen for Birthdays

Birthdays questions
Which crackers suit a children's party?
Sparklers with an adult holding the child's wrist, colour smoke, butterflies and electric stones. An adult lights each one, with a bucket of water beside them.
Can we light them in our apartment compound?
Quiet ground items, yes, if your association allows it and nothing overhangs. Nothing aerial.
Is there a minimum for a small party?
5,000 rupees, which is more than one party needs. Families keep the rest, sealed, for the next festival.
